Bioterrorism/All-Hazards Readiness and Surveillance---The public health response to a bioterrorism/all-hazards event is part of a larger response that will involve the health care community, law enforcement, and emergency management authorities at the local, regional, state, and federal levels.

Child Health Assessments---FCHD follows guidelines set forth by KDHE in performing child health assessment screenings.  The health screenings are conducted by those registered nurses who have completed a basic training program for health assessment screening and who are deemed by SRS to be KAN-Be-Healthy trained and certified.  Charges for child health assessments vary according to type of assessment being performed.

Childcare Licensing and Registration---FCHD follows the criteria set forth by KDHE to assist in the licensing and registration of day care homes, family day care homes, group day care homes, preschools, child care centers, family foster homes, residential centers and group boarding homes.  Charges vary according to type of childcare facility.

Epidemiology/Communicable Disease Prevention---FCHD follows the reporting, investigating, surveillance, laboratory management, treatment, and educational guidelines in epidemiology as set forth by KDHE and CDC when managing vaccine preventable disease and other disease events in Ford County.

HIV Counseling and Testing---KDHE guidelines are followed for HIV counseling and testing at FCHD.  The KDHE lab is used and an income based sliding fee scale is utilized for those at high risk of HIV infection.   For those at low risk of HIV, a private lab is utilized and a flat fee for service is assessed.

Immunizations (infant, child, adolescent, adult)---FCHD utilizes a sliding fee scale for those clients eligible for state subsidized vaccine.  Those ineligible for state vaccine may receive privately purchased vaccine.  Cost of private vaccine varies according to vaccine.  Medicaid/private health insurance are utilized whenever possible.

Maternal & Infant (M&I)---FCHD facilitates access to comprehensive prenatal care for eligible women in Ford County.  This is achieved through a collaborative effort between FCHD staff and physicians, registered nurses, registered dietitians, and various other professionals within the community.  This service is at no charge to the client.

Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Testing and Treatment---Utilizing an income based sliding fee scale, STD testing to male clients is offered.  Female clients are referred for testing to appropriate medical facilities in the community.  STD treatment is available to both male and female clients with a minimal flat fee for service charge.

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening, Treatment and Control---FCHD offers TB screenings each day except Thursday, with a minimal flat fee assessed per screening.   Medications for the treatment of TB disease and infection are dispensed per physician’s order and per KDHE and CDC guidelines.   Medications are provided at no charge.

Women, Infants, Children (WIC)---This temporary assistance program includes nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and foods to improve the nutrition of eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, or recently delivered women; infants; and children under age 5.  This service is at no charge to the client.
