Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Inspections

Before titling and registering your vehicle, it must undergo a Motor Vehicle Examination. During the inspection, our office makes sure your vehicle identification number (VIN) on your vehicle matches the VIN number on your title and/or registration.

The FOSO will only conduct inspections on out-of-state titled vehicles w/ a regular certificate of title; including antiques, trailers with no obvious discrepancies. Antiques on bills of sale and Salvage inspections will be referred to the KHP. Any Doubts of an inspection will be referred to the KHP.

We will not inspect Kansas non-highway, Kansas Salvage or Out-of-State Salvage Vehicles, Antiques on a bill of sale, or complete any inspection involving an affidavit or court order.
